Editorial Policy

We provide different city guides on our website to make sure our customers know what to expect when they are getting ready for a vacation. Learn here how our city guides are researched, written, fact-checked, and kept up to date to ensure that our customers have access to the best data. We also tell you how our city guides stay independent of the tours that we sell.

Standard for our city guides

Every city guide available on Tourhopers.com follows the standard that we have set on our website.

Written by people

Every travel and city guide present on our website is written by a travel writer working with us. After writing, the guides are also checked by an editor before they go live.

Fact-checked

The details that we include in our guides, such as prices, opening hours, transport, and addresses, are checked against all official sources before they are published on tourhopers.com.

Refreshed every January

It is very common for basic details to change, which is why we check and re-check every fact, including prices, events, and closures, every January to ensure that we provide only accurate information to our customers. As the guides are updated, the date on them also changes, which allows you to read the most recent guide.

Independent

Every guide written and published on our website is entirely independent. We write guides for 31 cities, whereas we sell tours in only 6, which means that for most of the guides, we have nothing to sell.

How a guide is made

As mentioned, any city guide written on our platform is thoroughly researched and then published. Take a look at the detailed process through which a guide is made.

Research

The process starts with in-depth research, as our writer researches the city using the official tourism website and transport and attractions sources, which means only reliable data is featured.

Write

After deep research, a draft is written in a shared document. This draft answers all the questions a first-time visitor needs, such as what to see, how to move around, and when to go.

Fact-check

This draft is then checked by an editor who checks every single fact featured in the article, such as price, address, and date. The editor marks anything that is unconfirmed.

Publish

After careful review, the guide then goes live with the writer, the checker, and the last-checked date.

Refresh

Lastly, we also refresh our guides every January to include year-specific facts. The corrections made by readers are also fixed as they come in.

Who writes and checks our guides

Our writing and editing team consists of skilled team members who carefully research every single fact before drafting a guide. Different team members have the task of completing different steps, such as writing, editing, and fact-checking.

Our editorial rules

Sources we use

We rely on official, verified sources, such as tourism boards, transport operators, government sites, and attraction pages, especially for things like visas, safety, and the latest holiday updates. If we mention details that might change, you'll find a direct link. We do not copy from other guides.

First-hand experience

Our guides either come from someone who’s lived in or visited the city, or they’re based on deep dives into official info. If a guide is built on real-world experience, you’ll see it right next to the author’s name.

Independent and Commercial Links

We cover 31 cities, but only sell tours in six: San Francisco, London, Paris, New York, Dubai, and York. Most of our recommendations don’t earn us a dime. If we do link to a tour we sell, you’ll spot a clear label. You can’t buy your way into our rankings, and we don’t use affiliate links.

How we use AI

Now and then, we may use AI for research and outlines, but every single guide is written and checked by a real human. We never publish anything from AI without someone fact-checking and editing it first.

Photos

All the photos that we publish are either from our own team, directly from tour operators, or properly licensed stock images. If credit’s required, we give it.

Keeping guides up to date

Each guide comes with a “last checked” date. Every January, we give everything a full once-over: prices, hours, events, what’s open and what’s closed. If we can’t verify something, it’s removed or marked clearly.

Prices, hours, and travel advice

Prices and schedules are up-to-date as of the last check, but things change fast. Always look at the official site before visiting. For safety and visa info, stick with official government advice.

Corrections

If you see something off, make sure to tell us using our email support@tourhopers.com. We check all feedback within 5 business days, make any needed fixes, and update the guide with a note if it’s a major change.
